Welcome Message

Welcome to the Washington State National Organization for Women (WANOW). NOW has been at the forefront of the fight for women’s rights for decades. Elevating the status of women involves many, many issues, and that is why NOW is a multi-issue organization.
We strive to protect women’s reproductive rights, including the right to obtain a safe, legal abortion; we are trying to close the salary gap that still exists (women make less than $.80 to a man’s $1.00 when in similar occupations and with equal education); we work to put an end to sexual discrimination and harassment; we support equal rights for all citizens, including the right to marry. This would be the ‘short list’ of issues we act upon.

Of course, NOW is a volunteer-driven organization, which means that the more active members we have, the more we can get done. Please explore our site, and if you are interested in becoming a member, or already are a member and would like to get in touch with an active chapter near you, please contact one of the officers.

NOW's Statement of Purpose

NOW’s purpose is to take action to bring women into full participation in the mainstream of American society now, exercising all privileges and responsibilities thereof in truly equal partnership with men. This purpose includes, but is not limited to, equal rights and responsibilities in all aspects of citizenship, public service, employment, education, and family life, and it includes freedom from discrimination because of race, ethnic origin, age, marital status, sexual preference/orientation, or parenthood.
